FAQ

Every question, answered

How far in advance should we book a masquerade in Charlotte?

For Saturdays, holiday season and Mardi Gras season (January through March), three to six months gives you the best choice of band and date. Weeknight and smaller soirées can often be produced in a few weeks — ask and we will tell you honestly what is open.

Do you bring the masks?

Yes. Every package includes a mask for every guest, and the Grand Gala and above add a mask bar where guests decorate their own or choose a premium Venetian mask.

Is the band really New Orleans–style?

Yes — traditional jazz and brass band instrumentation: trumpet, trombone, clarinet or sax, tuba, snare and bass drum. Expect the standards, brass band favorites and a few party anthems, plus a live second line parade on larger packages.

Can you work in our venue in Mint Hill or Matthews?

Absolutely. We produce in historic estates, private country clubs and Uptown hotel ballrooms across Charlotte and the surrounding area. Tell us the venue on the quote form and we will plan around its load-in rules and room shape.

How quickly will I get a price?

Custom quotes go out within 24 hours of your request, built around your guest count, date, venue and the experiences you want.

What does “Starting at” include?

It is the base price for the package as described, for a typical Charlotte venue and run time. Your quote adjusts for guest count, travel, load-in complexity and any add-ons you choose.

Can I mix pieces from different packages?

Yes. Packages are a starting framework. Swap the jazz trio for a brass band, add a second line, or drop décor if your venue is already dressed — the quote will reflect it.

Is there a guest minimum?

We produce events for roughly 30 to 1,000 guests. Under 30, the Masquerade Soirée is usually the best fit.

Do prices include food and bar?

No — catering and bar typically come through your venue. We coordinate timing with your historic estates or caterer so the music, toasts and reveals land on cue.

Can you do Mardi Gras outside of February?

Yes. Carnival season runs from Twelfth Night (January 6) through Fat Tuesday, but “Mardi Gras anytime” themed parties are booked across Charlotte all year — summer galas, fall fundraisers, even retirement parties.

Do you provide king cakes?

The Mardi Gras Masquerade package includes the king cake ceremony, and our King Cake & Beads add-on supplies the cakes themselves for larger groups. Whoever finds the baby is crowned King or Queen of the party.

How much space does a second line need?

Less than you think. A clear path about six feet wide from entrance to dance floor is plenty — the band leads and guests fall in behind, waving handkerchiefs and parasols.

Can the band lead guests from cocktails to dinner?

That is one of our favorite moments. The brass band strikes up in the cocktail space and parades everyone into the dining room — it works beautifully in historic estates and private country clubs.

Can I book just the band?

Yes — choose “Jazz / Brass Band only” on the quote form. Trios, quintets and 7–9 piece bands are available in Charlotte.

What is a second line parade?

A New Orleans tradition: the band leads, and everyone behind it — the second line — dances along waving handkerchiefs and parasols. Perfect for entrances, sendoffs and moving a crowd to dinner.

Do you take requests?

Absolutely. Send a list in advance; brass band arrangements of pop and R&B hits are a crowd favorite.

Does the band need power or a stage?

Acoustic brass needs neither for parades. For seated sets we bring a compact sound setup and need a standard outlet near the band area.

Can you help with the paddle raise?

Our Grand Ball & Fundraiser package includes emcee support for paddle raises and live auctions, with music cues timed to keep energy high while bids come in.

Do you work with volunteer committees?

Yes. We give your committee a single run-of-show and one point of contact, and we coordinate with your historic estates event manager directly.

Is the casino night real gambling?

No. Masquerade Casino Night is play money only — no real gambling. Guests can trade chips for raffle tickets or prizes you supply.

Which areas around Charlotte do you serve?

Charlotte and nearby communities including Mint Hill, Matthews and Huntersville. Travel outside the area is quoted case by case.

Do you offer fire performers?

No. We do not offer fire performers. Stilt walkers, aerialists and roaming masked characters bring the spectacle instead.

Is a deposit required?

A deposit secures your date and band. The balance is due before the event; your quote spells out exact terms.

What happens if we need to change the date?

Talk to us early. We will do our best to move your booking to an available date with the same band.
